Girls Educational & Mentoring Services (GEMS) is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to empower girls and young women, ages 16–29, who have experienced commercial sexual exploitation and domestic trafficking to exit the commercial sex industry and develop to their full potential. GEMS' is the only nonprofit organization in New York State to provide specialized services to young women and girls who have experienced commercial sexual exploitation with counseling, crisis housing, life skills training, job training and health care with consistent support and viable opportunities for positive change.

Part-Time Everyday Living Mentor

Position Summary: The Part-Time Everyday Living Mentor is responsible for the operations of the home and creating a family-like atmosphere that supports the development and trauma needs of each resident. Everyday Living Mentors perform their duties relatively free from direct supervision and need to behave in a professional manner at all times. This position is focused primarily upon serving the youth of the program through advancing the mission of the organization. While working within a home team schedule, staff will be required to be flexible within the seven day a week needs of the GEMS TIL residents of the 24-hour therapeutic residential facility and be on call every few weeks based on the crisis schedule.

Support Services Coordinator / Housing Specialist

Position Summary: The Support Services Coordinator/ Housing Specialist is responsible for working directly with runaway and homeless youth, specializing in sexually exploited and trafficked young women, ages 16-29. The Support Services Coordinator/ Housing Specialist is responsible for providing counseling, comprehensive case management and advocacy services with a specialization in housing placement. They serve not only as case managers, but as advocate, ally, counselor, and a support system for young women in crisis. The Support Services Coordinator/ Housing Specialist will be an essential part of the Support Services Team and overall GEMS community.

Residential Support Services Coordinator

Position Summary: The Residential Support Services Coordinator is responsible for working directly with runaway and homeless Youth, specializing in sexually exploited and trafficked young women, ages 16-29. Grants Writer (Part-Time or Full-Time)

Position Summary: The Grants Writer is responsible for the full project management of GEMS’ granting efforts. This includes managing and expanding the prospect list and grants pipeline so that GEMS can meet the needs of existing funders and secure new funding for the future. Flexible work hours 25-30 hours a week. The option of full-time is also available.

Development Manager

Position Summary: The Development Manager is responsible for supporting all fundraising functions of the Communications & Development team including funder prospecting, proposal writing, stewardship and outcomes management. This position ensures that annual funder base growth goals are met appropriately, as set by the Founder & Chief Executive Officer. The Development Manager will assist the Communications & Development Director with building and maintaining relationships within the funding community. The ideal candidate will be a development generalist, with an ability to juggle competing demands with professionalism.

Training Manager

Position Summary: The Training Manager will manage training activities both internally and externally. In collaboration with the Training Director, the Training Manager will be responsible for assessing the training needs of the organization in order to support and expand the training department, training programs, and training best practices to attend to issues and needs supported by GEMS. The Training Manager will also use project management skills to ensure that all trainings are administered effectively. This position has the possibility of working remotely or partially remotely.
