Services Offered

GEMS core trainings are based on a ground-breaking, national curriculum, written by GEMS in conjunction with the CSEC Community Intervention Project and funded by the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention in 2007. GEMS has updated and revised this interactive and intensive curriculum ensuring that participants receive relevant and practical trainings that will empower them to effectively serve victims of commercial sexual exploitation and trafficking.

Understanding Domestic Trafficking and Commercial Sexual Exploitation

This introductory workshop is ideal for organizations who are new to the issue, but may be serving trafficked/commercially sexually exploited children and youth. This training is customized to the needs of the organization and can range from 2 hours to 8 hours in length.

Addressing Domestic Trafficking and Commercial Sexual Exploitation

This three-day intensive training is designed for organizations or institutions who are serving, or wish to serve, commercially sexually exploited and domestically trafficked children and youth. Participants will have an opportunity to learn about the unique needs of victims and ways to craft programming to address these needs.

Breaking the Silence: Survivor Voices on Commercial Sexual Exploitation

This training is based on the youth-created Breaking the Silence video and book that share survivor experiences through art, poetry and prose. Participants will learn how to ensure that survivors voices are a critical element of programming and will receive copies of the video and book to implement workshops on CSEC with their youth.

From Victim to Survivor: From Survivor to Leader

This unique workshop utilizes the survivor-created white paper on promising practices in implementing positive youth development programming in serving survivors of commercial sexual exploitation. Participants will learn the key elements of youth development as identified by youth survivors/leaders and practical ways to implement them into existing program.

Additional trainings include:

Promising Practice Programming for Girls and Young Women

Creating a Safe Space for Commercial Sexually Exploited Girls and Young Women

Alternative to Incarceration Programming for Commercially Sexually Exploited Young Women

Implementing Youth Leadership Programming for Survivors of CSEC and Trafficking
